She joins Botho University after 38 years of Public Service of which 23 years were spent in Nursing and Health Training and Education, therefore bringing a wealth of experience in training and educational leadership and management.
Dr. Boitshwarelo holds a PhD in Nursing from North-West University in South Africa and a Master of Nursing and Bachelor of Nursing from RMIT University in Melbourne Australia. Her research interests include Nursing Leadership and Management, Healthcare Management, Resilience in Nursing and Health Care, Professional and Ethical Issues in Nursing and Health Care, Non-Communicable diseases, HIV/AIDS and Primary Care.

She has served as Chairperson of the National Academic Board of the Institute of Health Sciences and as a member of both the Board of Affiliated Health Training Institutions and Unified Board of Affiliated Institutions of the University of Botswana responsible for approval of results and curricular from affiliated institutions. She has also served as a member of the Human Resource Development Council Health Sector Committee which was responsible for an advisory role in the identification of critical human resource priorities in the health sector. Dr. Boitshwarelo also served as a member of the 4th and 6th Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana which regulates nursing education and practice and was the Chairperson of the Council’s Disciplinary committee in the last seven years until 2021. She has served in various committees and taskforces.
Dr. Boitshwarelo is a Registered Nurse, a Midwife and a Nurse Specialist. She is a recipient of the Presidential Honour of Nursing Meritorious Service and has also been awarded a Lifetime Membership of the Golden Key National Honour Society.
