Our Foundation – Botho University Community Initiative(BUCI)

Botho University Community Initiative (BUCI) is the not-for-profit foundation of Botho University, Registration no:BW00000719514

The foundation was created for the sole purpose of funding initiatives that support Botho University’s impact on the community beyond the scope of regular teaching and learning. These initiatives include but are not limited to:

  • Entrepreneurial projects by our students and alumni
  • Mobility to study abroad for our students to gain international exposure
  • Scholarships for further studies for our alumni
  • Community development projects

The foundation is expected to raise funds with the support of our generous community of donors to achieve its intended objectives.

BUCI Board of Directors:

BUCI has a Board of Directors which includes independent members in addition to representation from the Botho University Board of Directors. All disbursement of BUCI funds shall be suitably approved by the Board of Directors through its sub-committee for fund management.The usage of funds by BUCI will also be strictly monitored by the BUCI official committee. BUCI is also expected to produce a detailed financial and impact report annually.


 
Mr. Lucky Tebalebo Moahi is the Chairperson of BUCI. He is a former senior bureaucrat who served the Government of Botswana at Permanent Secretary level with vast experience in various ministries and also consulting experience in higher education internationalisation.
 
Prof. Naomi Mmapelo Seboni is a retired Professor of Nursing from the University of Botswana with vast academic and research experience currently the chairperson of the Botho University Advisory Council.

Ms. Neo Bogatsu is the current Deputy CEO of Botswana Life Insurance Limited and also an external member on the BU Board of Directors. She has many years of experience in the financial sector.

Mr. Jayaraman (Jay) Ramesh, is the current Chairperson of the Botho University Board of Directors. He was previously Managing Partner at Grant Thornton and sits on the boards of three Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) listed companies.

Ms. Kate Senye, is a non-executive director on the Botho University Board of Directors and has over 20 years of expertise as a development economist and investment analyst.  

Dr. Sheela Raja Ram, is the Vice-Chancellor and Managing Director of Botho University with over 41 years of industry experience. She is focussed on graduate employability at Botho University giving the university an impeccable reputation for quality education delivery.
