Certificate in Graphics Design and Animation The certificate in Graphics Design and Animation is a six months programme offered in one semester at Botho University.

The students enrolled in this programme will study graphics design fundamentals and Photoshop, and Animation Using Flash. They shall apply appropriate technological (Adobe Photoshop) platforms, trends and language to create visual exciting designs in creative industry. The certificate in Web Designing is a one year, Level 2 programme at Botho University. The students enrolled in this programme will be privileged to be part of an e-Government initiative. There are two semesters in the programme, out of which the students will be expected to do an internship (Industrial training) in the second semester.

The students enrolled in this programme will acquire knowledge on the basics of Internet applications and design principles to produce effective Websites. Topics covered in this programme include terminology, theory and processes from concept to completion, fundamentals of typography and scripting languages.

Upon successful completion of this programme, the students will be acquainted with the knowledge and technologies to produce a dynamic website using PHP at the front end, and MySQL at the back end. These student graduates will be able to work in the various positions of IT industry such as Application developer, Web Designer, Web Developer, Database Administrator, Software Tester, among many other opportunities. Besides, the module on entrepreneurship will equip them with all the skills to be self-employed.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) helps students develop the skills needed to succeed in IT-related degree programs and prepare for the Cisco CCNP certification. CCNP equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to plan, implement, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot converged enterprise networks. The students enrolled in this program will study operation of Computer Networks, Build a small switched network, Implementing an IP addressing scheme for a small branch office, Implement a small routed network, WLAN, Implement and verify WLAN links, Configure, verify and troubleshoot a switch with VLANs and inter switch communications, Implement an IP addressing scheme and IP Services to meet network requirements in a medium-size Enterprise branch office network, Configure and troubleshoot basic operation and routing on Cisco devices, Implement, verify, and troubleshoot NAT and ACLs in a medium-size Enterprise branch office network.

Admissions Criteria

1) Applicants are expected to have successfully completed secondary schooling. The typical entry requirement is BGCSE or IGCSE (in Botswana), LGCSE (in Lesotho) or other equivalent secondary school qualification. BGCSE or IGCSE (in Botswana), LGCSE (in Lesotho) candidates are required to achieve a minimum grade of ‘D’ in five subjects.

2) Applicants must have 10 points in English and Mathematics combined or 32 points in the top 5 subjects.

3) Applicants in possession of a Diploma or Higher Diploma in related field may be given exemptions based on the credit point equivalency
