Botho University stands as one of the few institutions in the countries we operate to consistently conduct tracer studies, reinforcing our commitment to enhancing employability through data-driven decision-making. Our ongoing dedication to improving employment outcomes for our students and graduates is reflected in our regular tracer studies, which play a crucial role in shaping our strategic initiatives.

In 2024, Botho University elevated this initiative by collaborating with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to conduct one of our most extensive and impactful tracer studies to date. Under the guidance of global experts from the IFC, we received specialized training on designing and executing a large-scale tracer study aimed at measuring graduate employability—a critical Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for our institution. Over several months, our team underwent intensive training, benefiting from one-on-one mentorship, coaching, and insights from international experts. This collaboration underscored the importance of tracer studies and demonstrated their pivotal role in driving success at leading universities worldwide.

This 2024 Botho University graduate tracer study with the guidance of IFC was successfully concluded in June 2024. It yielded rich insights from our alumni which are already forming the basis for curriculum development, academic research and continual improvements to the universities’ numerous employability initiatives. Botho University is committed to continue to this exercise annually given the immense value.

Phase 1 of the 2025 Botho University graduate tracer study is now open. Phase 1 focusses only on those alumni from our Botswana, Lesotho and Blended and Distance Learning Campus, who successfully completed their programme of study in December 2023.

Phase 2 of the 2025 Botho University graduate tracer study will open in April 2025. Eligible Botho University Alumni who participate in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 will have their feedback considered in strategic decision making by the university.
