The year 2018, ended on a high note for Botho University. Last week of December 2018, BU hosted Huawei, South Africa in both Maseru and Gaborone campuses conducting a boot camp by trainers from Tshwane Institute of  Technology, for students who will be selected to participate in the Global ICT challenge for the grand finale in China. The 1st boot camp was held in Maseru where 8 students managed to qualify for the next round.

In Gaborone the boot camp included a participation of students from the University of Botswana and Botho University.


BU ICT student attends Student Exchange programme with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden

Botho University’s partnership with other universities around the world benefits its students and staff, by strengthening and facilitating curriculum growth. On the 16th January 2019, BU sent Tabaka Mochipela, a final year student studying BSc Network Security and Computer Forensics to KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, for a period of 5 months on a student exchange programme.

The partnership with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, is aimed at exposing students to international and diverse teaching and learning experience as well as to position its graduates for global markets.

Before boarding his flight, Tabaka expressed gratitude to the university for the opportunity, as he expected it to be an experience of a lifetime. He further talked about his studies with BU and other awards he got during his studies such as the Dean’s award, which pushed him to do more and be where he is at the moment.
BU's Hospitality Students all set to attend World Tourism Forum Lucerne in Switzerland
The Faculty of Hospitality and Sustainable Tourism welcomed the New Year with the exciting news that two of their final year students have been selected as part of the 12 finalists of the Young Talent Programme 2019, for the World Tourism Forum Lucerne in Switzerland. 

The two, Kesego Obona Masedi and Senatla Courageous Gabobofane, are set to leave for Switzerland to attend the 3-day forum from the 1st to the 3rd of May 2019 where they will take part in activities such making a poster presentation of their research results, partaking in Career Development workshops with Korn Ferry Recruitment Company, as well as attend various workshops.

The two underwent a rigorous application process to be selected by the academic committee of the World Tourism Forum Lucerne, which included submitting abstracts of their final year research papers before selection for an early round of judging. Thereafter Kesego and Senatla took a Learning Agility assessment and placed in the final selection along with 10 other finalists from various universities all over the world. 
Botho University has been awarded the Prometric Pace Setter certificate ! Prometric is a world leader in the "Test Administration" industry. More details to follow in our next round up. Stay tuned!!
